The CEOle squirrel standing between two org charts that don't match, holding an unplugged cable

Dear Microsoft: Entra already knows who my manager is

You set a manager in Entra and Dynamics Sales Hub acts like it never happened. Some orgs need an override, but the default should just work.

You set someone's manager in Microsoft Entra (yes, the thing we all still call Azure AD in the hallway), and then you open Dynamics Sales Hub and that relationship is nowhere to be found. That's the whole bug report, and somehow we're still having this conversation with customers in 2026.

The problem

The org chart already lives in Entra. HR updates it, IT trusts it, and Teams and Outlook both use it. Dynamics has its own Manager field on the user record, and the two don't talk, so the default is that someone types the org chart in a second time and keeps it updated forever... which, as we all know, nobody does.

I get why some companies want the CRM manager to be different from the directory manager. Sales coverage is weird, matrix reporting is weird, and sometimes the person who owns the account isn't the person who owns the P&L. That's fine, and those companies should absolutely be able to override it.

The workaround

What we do today is build the sync ourselves, usually a Power Automate flow or a small scheduled job that reads the manager from Entra and writes it to the Dynamics user. It works, but it's one more thing a customer has to own after go-live, and I've seen plenty of those quietly break when the person who built them moves on.

The ask

Sync the Entra manager into Dynamics by default, and give admins a clear switch to turn it off when the business needs something different. Entra already knows who manages whom, and Dynamics already has the field, so this one feels very fixable.

Signed, a fan who'd really like to delete a Power Automate flow.
